Pianist Corinne Penner’s performances have taken her across Europe and the United States to venues such as Seiji Ozawa Hall, Museo del Violino, Carnegie Hall’s Weill Recital Hall, and Colburn’s Zipper Hall. Lauded by Fanfare Magazine as a “superb pianist…truly magnificent,” her multi-faceted career embraces the solo piano, chamber music, and art song repertoire, with recitals at the Schleswig-Holstein Musik Festival, Oxford International Song Festival, Toronto Summer Music Festival, and Cincinnati Song Initiative. She is a grateful recipient of fellowships and other awards from the Tanglewood Music Center, the Aspen Music Festival, and the Franz-Schubert-Institut.

As a team, she and tenor Morgan Manifacier were awarded the 2022 John Kerr Award Duo Prize for their all-English recital program at Lauderdale House in London; she also holds solo prizes from the Cremona International Piano Competition and the Kansas City Symphony Young Artist Competition, amongst many others. Penner has received generous grants from the Koch Cultural Trust and The Performing Arts Consortium for her artistic endeavors, and her recent performances have been broadcast on WMHT. Her principal teachers include Christina Dahl, Ann Schein, and Li-Shan Hung; she is also grateful for additional lessons with Gilbert Kalish and Peter Serkin and for the invitation to play in several masterclass series for Menahem Pressler.

A special love for art song has further led to classes and coachings with Elly Ameling, Renée Fleming, Dawn Upshaw, Christoph Prégardien, Dame Sarah Connolly, and many other vocal luminaries. As an advocate for the music of Lili Boulanger, Penner frequently performs and presents on her songs and solo piano music, recently giving a lecture recital on the newly released manuscript of Boulanger’s Thème et variations at the 2023 Music by Women Festival in Columbus, Mississippi. An avid performer of 20th- and 21st-century music, Penner has additionally worked with composers William Bolcom, Jake Heggie, Libby Larsen, and Matthew Aucoin.

Penner holds a DMA in Piano Performance from Stony Brook University, and she recently joined the faculty at Baylor University’s School of Music. She was previously a Lecturer of Piano at the University of Nevada, Reno, and taught chamber music in the Stony Brook Young Artist Program.
